Shaws Cottage

Brief: The architectural requirement was to have a replacement dwelling with modern interior incorporating large vaulted ceilings and a barn like exterior. A basement was included to increase the foot print of the house in a green belt area. The building was to be highly insulated and efficient.

Solution: The structural solution was to use reinforced masonry with a beam and block deck for the basement, tanked externally using a proprietary Remmers product. The superstructure was a Structural Insulated Panel system and the vaulting achieved by using stainless steel ties to prevent roof spread.
